The Dutch ace saw off Dean Winstanley with an excellent display in the afternoon session to reach the last four in a major ranking event for the first time since 2008.

van der Voort, who had previously defeated Andy Hamilton and Peter Wright, triumphed 10-8 in an exciting battle with Winstanley.

But his hopes of reaching the final where quashed by an in-form Anderson, who averaged almost 104 in an 11-7 victory.

Anderson had threatened to win extremely comfortably when he led 10-3 but van der Voort incredibly took out four finishes of over 100 in consecutive legs to give his opponent a fright.

The Scotsman went on to win the tournament, defeating Adrian Lewis in the final.
